Sierra College Softball Development Camp

Are you a softball player looking for something to do over the summer?

Well the Sierra College Softball team has something for that.

From June 15-18, the Wolverines softball team will be hosting a softball camp for girls between the ages of 8-18 with the emphasis on pitching, hitting, base running and defense and the athlete’s will be able to demonstrate them in a game like atmosphere in scrimmages.

The campers will be working in their own age’s groups and skill level to ensure a positive and rewarding learning experience and will be taught by the Sierra coaches, current and past players.

Prices are $185 and the camp will last from 9am-1pm.  Parking at Sierra College is $3.

Laxapalooza Recruiting Showcase

Maidu Park will host this 3-day action filled event between May 28 and May 31. 

This highly competitive recruiting tournament is for ages U9-High School Elite Boys and U11-High School Elite Girls and if you've never been to a Swashbuckler Lacrosse event this is the one.

The kick-off begins on Friday night with all high school players and coaches invited to attend a fully catered banquet and a chance to meet the acclaimed college recruiter, Ken Miller. Saturday morning games begin with three seeding games and Sunday morning playoffs start with double elimination.  Come check it out!

ASA Memorial Day Classic

The sun will be shining, bats will be swinging and that's how you know it's Memorial Day weekend in Placer Valley. Tour De Lincoln Begins May 16

Calling all bikers!  The 14th Annual Lincoln Volunteer Center Benefit Bike Ride is just around the corner and has rides for the novice rider to the Lance Armstrong wannabe.  The rides which range in mileage from 10 to 63 are routed throughout beautiful and scenic Lincoln up to Auburn along the rolling hillsides of Placer County. All participates will enjoy a continental breakfast, well stocked rest stops along the way and a great post-ride BBQ lunch. The action starts at 8 a.m. at McBean Park, we hope to see you there!

Matt Redding Memorial Golf Tournament set for June 15 at Whitney Oaks Golf Club

The 10th annual Matt Redding Memorial Golf Tournament will take place Monday, June 15, at Whitney Oaks Golf Club in Rocklin.

Cost is $145 per person, which includes green fees, shirt, cart, range balls, lunch, and awards dinner that features a raffle, silent auction and auctioneer. Additional dinners are available for $35 per person.

The foundation is asking to make checks payable to the "Matt Redding Foundation" and mail to 5725 Bluffs Drive, Rocklin, CA 95765

Registration for the event begins at 11 a.m., and lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The shotgun start begins at 1 p.m.

A popular Rocklin Police Officer, Matt Redding tragically died while on duty in October 2005 when he was struck and killed by a vehicle that was driven by an intoxicated driver.

All of the proceeds  will go to the nonprofit Matt Redding Memorial Scholarship Foundation, which supports education in Protective Services and provides financial support each year to graduating seniors at five local high schools.

It also provides scholarships to Sierra College and William Jessup University each year.
